Californication is a comedy-drama TV series, created by Tom Kapinos, that originally premiered on Showtime on August 13, 2007. The main character played by Hank Moody (David Duchovny) is a novelist with writer’s block who move to California. He has a complicated relationship with his longtime girlfriend Karen (Natascha McElhone) and daughter Becca (Madeleine Martin).
A writer tries to juggle his career, his relationship with his daughter and his ex-girlfriend, as well as his appetite for beautiful women.
The show has been nominated and won several awards, including winning one Emmy Award and one Golden Globe Award.
Season 5 began filming in April 2011 and is set to premiere on January 8, 2012.
David Duchovny was born in New York City, New York, the son of Margaret ”Meg” a school administrator and teacher, and Amram Ducovny (1927–2003), a writer and publicist who worked for the American Jewish Committee. Duchovny was on the road to earning his Ph.D. in English Literature when, to his family’s eternal disappointment, he began acting. Duchovny first appeared in an advertisement for Löwenbräu beer in 1987. He appears in two scenes in Working Girl from 1988. He had a recurring role as a transvestite DEA agent on the series Twin Peaks. Subsequently, Duchovny emerged to become one of the most highly acclaimed actors in Hollywood.
